* Different Faces *
I've met so many different faces While walking my wandering way
Each one in fact, left a lasting impact And they all had so much to say…
I met the face of angry Brutality On a dark and innocent path Knowing
ten bloody years, of fearful tears Before escaping his aftermath… I met the conquering face of Triumph
On a timeless road of tranquil trees Where Compassion's hum, helped me overcome And lifted me up from my knees… Then
I walked on, till one dismal dawn When I met Death's foreboding face He presented me with such misery Stealing
my mother's life and grace… Finally, I met the face of true Love On a small town street in early spring
He enveloped me, unconditionally My voice, my heart, my everything… And now that I'm near the end
of my trail I have come to meet the face of Pride And I think his gifts were the best by far "Respect and Dignity
are yours," he sighed… Joyce O'Neal ©2000
